B3

It was a small room. A bit dirty. It was more like a war room than a pristine laboratory. But it was very much like what Adrian saw in all xi-fi movies. There were three glass showcases. The first two showcases were dark. The last one was lighted with a robot inside.

The robot was black. Instead of round eyes, they were just a small slit. Actually, that was all it had in the head. The so called body was just a rectangular boxy structure. Instead of two nipples, there were two buttons. The extremities were hose like tubing. The so called hands looked more human. There was a palm and five fingers. The so called feet were rhomboid structures with small wheels.

Adrian was deep in thought. “Is this the next generation of humans? It looks like the human beings with flesh as we know is going away. Welcome to the new world!”

There was a long mirror next to the last showcase. Adrian finally had a chance to look at himself after the radiation exposure. His hair was falling. The right eyebrow was gone. His cheeks became bony. He was wearing the same jacket for the last two weeks. The print on the jacket had faded. The jeans were holding but still fading and covered with dirt and blood.

Dr. Chang tapped his shoulder. “Do you want to convert?”

Adrian was caught by surprise. “Convert? What do you mean?”
